Soulful almond shaped eyes and silky long locks cascading down a curvaceous bronzed body is what skyrocketed Nerissa Irving’s modeling career. Under this exotic natural beauty with alluring features exists an ambitious young woman who is truly a multitalented mogul in the making. From a very young age Nerissa was highlighted as one to watch, as she excelled in various areas. At the tender age of 7 she was designated a child prodigy for her musical talents with the violin and around the same time was being sought out by some of New Yorks top modeling agencies for her refreshing photogenic look. Over the next few years she found much success as she gravitated to print modeling and acting, after blossoming into a radiant young woman.
Inspirationally business minded Nerissa has broken barriers and helped to bring Natural Hair beauty into mainstream media. The Captivating photos she once posted on her MySpace caught the attention of Playboy photographers and helped launch her major modeling career. She was the first model with dreadlocks to appear in playboy; posing in the 2008 Special Edition Playboy’s Natural Beauty, 2009 issue of Playboy’s Sexy 100 and 2009 Playboy Nudes edition. She acknowledges her playboy shoot as where she found her true comfort with herself and talent for artistic nude modeling. Never taking No for an answer, Nerissa has amassed an impressive portfolio without having to conform to industry stereotypes. She has been published in 2010 Vibz Magazine, Sophisticates Black Hair June 2010 issue, eLife Magazine “SwimSuite Edition 2010, 2011 Red Stripe Calendar, Tribes Magazine, Afro Glitz magazine, Complexd Mag (Uk), WhereItzAt Mag march 2012, and Women Of The World photography book by Jarmo P. She is currently the spokes model for ‘Jamaican Mango and Lime’ hair care products and was featured on VH1’s T.V show ‘Beverly Hills Fabulous’. She is proud of her Caribbean/African background and still holds the title of Miss Millennium Queen of the Caribbean in Ethiopia.
Nerissa’s ever-growing empire now also includes owning the vegan beauty line ”Nerissa Nefeteri Organics”, publishing a tantalizing 2013 calendar spread and staring in a popular YouTube channel video blog. In her video blogs, Nerissa talks about everything from exercises to improve ones sex life to the value of proper hygiene. Her relatable and easygoing nature sets the tone of her videos making somewhat awkward topics humorous and easier to tolerate while still remaining informative.
This Jamaican born beauty credits her down to earth nature to her strong mother who is also her motivation to maintain her natural beauty and her inspiration to remain a positive role model for females everywhere to keep a healthy mind, body and spirit. The idea of a positive female role model took a whole new meaning for Nerissa since the birth of her daughter. Of all the esteemed titles Nerissa holds she revivers that of ‘Mom’ with the most pride, succeeding as a naturalista mother.
Believing that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, Nerissa has expanded her influence in print media by becoming the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of her company Kamoy Magazine Inc. She started Kamoy (an acronym standing for Keep. Aspiring. Minds. Of. Youth.) in an effort to give natural living enthusiasts, such as herself, a positive and informative alternative magazine. Through this magazine she aims to inspire and educate people about natural living while encouraging positive viewpoints on natural beauty and promoting emerging artists.
